This is the first piece of many of what will eventually be a large animal collage (or or maybe just cat collage) done completely in similar earth tones.
Let me know what you think.
About the Caracal:
The Caracal is a medium-sized wild cat from the Tanzania Serengeti. It is also commonly referred to a "Persian Lynx" or "African Lynx" (I believe "Desert Lynx" maybe another name as well.)
Caracals are not Lynxes nor are they related to them.
The Caracal is actually considered a small cat, a big, small cat.
They weigh around 3-18 kg (28-40 lbs) and stand about as tall as a larger medium size dog. All of these adjectives are ridiculous.
In the US it is legal to keep Caracals (as well as their spotted cousins, Servals) as pets, some states may require special licenses to do so, others do not. If a Caracal owner wishes to take their Caracal on walks in public they may be required to obtain an exhibitor's license depending on their state and city laws.
When I become filthy stinkin' rich and have my dream home/property I am going to own a Caracal.... and a Serval.
I met someone once who had a female Caracal and a female Serval. They were amazing. They were well trained (she said it wasn't easy by any means) and they absolutely adored each other.
Just imagine your regular, generic, loving, energetic, playful kitten or young adult housecat.... now imagine that same cat weight about 16kg (35lbs) and standing about 53cm to 64cm (21 to 24in) at the shoulder.
Now imagine this cat jumping on your stomach first thing in the morning to wake you up. The Caracal eliminates the need for alarm clocks!
But in all seriousness, they are so fucking awesome and I really, really want one.
